Frequently Asked Questions

HOW SAFE ARE Get Global TRIPS?

The locations that we send many of our teams are often remote; however we strive to ensure the safety of every team member on a Get Global trip.  This is accomplished in four ways.

1.      Logistics: Each trip is painstakingly planned and organized so that the team’s location and itinerary is known at all times.

2.      International Contacts: Along with information from the US Department of State, Get Global maintains an extensive list of in country contacts through our connection to SIL/Wycliffe international., through these contacts we are able to stay abreast of the political and physical environment within a country.

3.      Proven Leadership: At least two adult team leaders (one male, one female) accompany the students on every trip.  Each of these team leaders have gone through the Get Global interview process, are experienced in cross-cultural work, and have attended a Get Global team leader training held each year.  What is more, the team is connected to an in-country translator who is familiar with the country and culture.

4.      Insurance Assurance: Travel insurance is included in the cost of every trip so that in the event of an emergency team members can receive immediate and proper medical attention.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE COST OF A GET GLOBAL TRIP?

All costs associated with making the team member’s trip possible are included within the trip price.  Included in this are the administrative, and project setup costs.  International round-trip airfare from the orientation city to mission destination is also included.  Upon arrival to the orientation city, all costs for ground transportation, lodging, and meals are included until the close of the trip.

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE COST OF A GET GLOBAL TRIP?

The trip cost does not include money for laundry, souvenirs, or additional snacks.  Any costs associated with an early return as a result of a serious violation of the rules set forth by Get Global or any family emergency is the team member’s responsibility.  Domestic airfare to the orientation city is not included in the trip price.

ARE DONATIONS TO GET GLOBAL TAX DEDUCTIBLE?

Get Global is a program of Wycliffe which is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, making any donations to the ministry tax deductible. In order to receive a tax deduction, the IRS requires donors to release to Wycliffe the control of how their donations are spent. This means all contributions raised for mission trips must be payable to Wycliffe Bible Translators in order to receive a tax deduction.
