So, why should
you GET Global??? Well....
IMAGINE
LIFE
Imagine your life without a single sentence of God’s
Word. Imagine if every Bible you had ever seen was in
a language you could not understand.
It is hard
for us to imagine, especially when there are hundreds
of different versions in the English language alone.
Unfortunately for over 3,000 people groups worldwide,
life without the word of God is a reality. Many of these
more than 300 million people believe that God does not
care about their language or culture; hence He does
not care about them.
Although these
numbers seem daunting, there is hope. God does not speak
one language, but instead He is the Creator and Lover
of all languages and cultures. What is more, He is passionate
about redeeming people from every tribe and tongue.
IMAGINE
OPPORTUNITY
Now is your time to join God in His work to redeem the
unreached people of the world. Now is the time to act.
Now is the time to GET Global!
During a typical
GET Global trip a team
spends 1-3 weeks among a minority language group where
Bible translation is in progress. You and your team
will be given the opportunity to experience translation
work firsthand in at least three ways:
Language
learning: Time with a
Local Language Helper
GET Global trips mirror
the early field experiences of a translator. During
the orientation process you will be equipped with basic
linguistic skills that will aid you in your understanding
the local "heart language". Similar to a translator, you
will develop your language skills by sitting at the
feet of a local language helper. After only a few hours,
you will come away with a deeper understanding of why
translation work can be so challenging, yet so rewarding.
Cross-Cultural
Interaction: The Village
Stay
You and your team will then be taken out of your comfort
zone and will be given the chance to put your language
learning and survival skills to the test. Each team
member along with one other team member will be placed
into a village home for 3-5 days. During this time you
will be immersed into the local culture, and required
to utilize your language skills. You will learn firsthand
the day-to-day challenges of living within a culture
unlike your own and the joy that comes from working
alongside the local people as they go about their daily
affairs.
Community
Development: The Service
Project
A service project will be done as a thank-you to the
missionaries and the village for allowing your team
to spend time with them. GET Global
consults with the nationals and missionaries to determine
what project would be most appropriate and appreciated.
Service projects can be anything from construction to
computer and literacy work.
