PRAY… CONNECT… DECIDE… DO IT!
Is God calling
you to be active in mission now? Are you burdened
for people who don’t know that God “speaks”
their language? Do you sense God moving you to get
a WYnet community started where you are? Start
praying because God can
do something big in your life! Ask others to pray
with you about this—your pastor, your family,
your friends. Remember to wait on God for His clear
Then, connect with other students and young people
who share your same passion in your area, in your
country and around the world. WYnet leaders around
the world are eager to help other WYnet communities
get started. Check out the different WYnet Web sites
and find ways to connect with them.
One of the greatest strengths of WYnet is the international
network of young people who are excited about Vision
2025! Get together with young people in your area
or your country to pray, share ideas and make a plan
to get involved. The Bible tells us that where two
or three are gathered, God is in their midst (Matthew
18:20). It’s okay to start small, because when
God is in it, He will make it effective for His glory!
WYnet is a part of Wycliffe! It’s important
during this stage to connect with a Wycliffe representative
in your area and ask for their input, prayer and support.
to find out how to contact a Wycliffe representative
in your area. If there is not a Wycliffe office in
your area, please contact email@example.com or
firstname.lastname@example.org for help.
Next, decide how your group wants to impact people
groups that don’t have Scripture. Check out
the “What’s WYnet”
section to get some ideas. Talk to Wycliffe people
in your area, and spend time together as a group thinking,
gathering information, talking and praying about this.
There is no prescribed way for any WYnet community
to get involved. Every WYnet will be a little different…praise
God! The point is to walk in faith and obedience to
what God is showing your group.
Finally, step out in faith and do it! Fill out the
Country Application so you and your group can
immediately connect with WYnet leaders and resources
from around the world. Start making a difference!
History of WYnet:
Others have started a WYnet and you can too! Here’s
the short history of WYnet International:
In 1995, Lesley Somers founded WYnet England with
a list of only 12 names. These were not just any 12
names, they were people who were under 18 and desperate
to be involved in the work of Wycliffe, at that very
time. WYnet was formed to get these 12 young people
involved in missions while they were still young and
to encourage both their faith and gifts. From a small
country house in Devon with the principle of “by
young people, for young people,” WYnet UK grew
into a lively and active network of young people.
Along the way were summer trips to Africa, which gave
the young people the opportunity to experience cross-cultural
ministry for themselves.
Then, in 2000, the idea spread, and WYnet USA was
born. In the summer of 2002 at a WYnet USA leadership
retreat (which included some UK leaders), WYnet El
Salvador was born. These three combined to form WYnet
