The ground in their area is permafrost: only the
top layer thaws each summer and there is summer
vegetation. The lower layers of ground are permanently
frozen. The Nenets are traditionally reindeer herders.
Their diet includes reindeer meat, fish and seasonal
berries.

The Gospel of Luke has been in progress for about
10 years. Translation of the Gospel of Mark was
started in 2001 with people from another organization
(IBT). The SIL (Wycliffe related organization)
advisors are still learning the language.

How to Pray for the
Nenets Bibleless People Group:
Pray that the advisors will
help translators from among the people translate
the Word of God in a
clear and natural way that speaks to the hearts
of the Nenets people.
Pray for new believers and
the strengthening of a Nenets church. The Bible
is available only in Russian.
Pray for the publication
of the whole gospel of Luke.
